Summer Sunset Palo Duro Canyon Elopement

First looks aren’t always for the groom, they can be for anyone that’s important to you. For this Palo Duro Canyon elopement, I threw out the idea of going to Grandma since she couldn’t come to us and it was very important for Grandma not to feel left out. I cried like a baby because I wished I would have been able to have my Mema there with me when I got married. Grandparents are so important!

“We meet at the Petro in Amarillo, Texas and I was shining boots while he was a truck driver. I worked there for about a year, left for about 3 years and then came back. When Bob was in town he would get his boots shined and we would talk and just hang out while I worked. After about a year of just talking as friends, one day there it was. We fell in love. I left everything and got in the truck with him and almost 8 years later here we are!”

When I had my consultation with Brittany and Bob we had this whole vision and excitement over doing a fun, outdoor, rim party with using our big boho bridal tent.

We were going to set up wooden tables, wooden chairs, string lights, eat all the food and dance with the DJ, all while overlooking the depths of Palo Duro Canyon. Just a few short weeks before the date Brittany tells me that their rig broke down and they have to cancel the party but still wanted to get married with us and do something small. We ended up trading in dancing with the DJ to having the first dance with the cows and it was incredible. There’s always room for change and even though she didn’t get her party wedding, it was still a lot of fun!

One thing Brittany wanted me to know before we ended our first call together was that there is a “large” age gap between them that she wanted me to be aware of. It kind of made me sad that she felt the need to tell me, because if you don’t know by now, I’m the type of person who will have fun with you no matter what. When you are with them you don’t even notice. They are both so fun, full of life and want to do all the things!
