Big Bend Santa Elena Canyon Elopement with Blood Moon

We have known each other since elementary school. We went to Jr High together and graduated in the same class. Our HS class is very close even though it is a large class and we are all friends through Facebook. In October 2020 I reached out to Edward because I wanted to go see a friend of ours play at a bar in Harlingen, Texas. I had reached out to 3 friends (who all had something else going on) and I finally asked Edward if he would go. I was counting on him being bored because he just had knee surgery. It wasn’t a date, I just didn’t want to go by myself and I figured he would be up for an outing. Before our night out he invited me to watch a World Series game at his apartment and I agreed and before our night out he took me to a cook out at a friend’s ranch (I thought he was supposed to be recovering from knee surgery). From that weekend on we tried new places and went riding around in the pick up truck to rodeo roping events and had a great time. I stayed in Harlingen until January right after the New Year and figured the fun was over and I went back to San Antonio. He proposed to me in July while we were in Maui and we got married 10 months later under a full moon lunar eclipse at Big Bend National Park with Texas Adventure Elopements and it was a magical evening.

My most favorite memory from the elopement day in Big Bend was that Edward looked so handsome. It gave me butterflies- I thought I was past the age for butterflies. I saw a look in his eyes like he was seeing me for the fist time, that I was his future and that made him happy

If I could give anyone any future advice it would be that the only thing that matters is that you love each other and at the end of the day, you are married. I had so many little things go wrong “what ifs” and if you added them up, I should have cried. But I didn’t because it really didn’t matter. They were details that went their own way. The most important thing is I was beginning the second half of my life with the man of my dreams under a starry sky, full moon and lunar eclipse. That in itself was perfect, exactly what we wanted.

What made us pick Texas Adventure Elopements was the fact that I had never been to Big Bend prior to our elopement. I had been to the area and I knew I wanted to go again, especially to have a Santa Elena Canyon elopement. I saw some of their photographs and knew if I could have at least ONE beautiful photograph then that is what I wanted. I relied on their expertise and experience with the area. All the guess work as to what spots were good or when lighting is best is taken care of by the talented team of women.
